Weekend Getaway

Top Row: Weekend Cabin, Linville Falls NC, Contessa (so glad we are home)
Middle Row: Rocking Chairs @ the Cabin, Appetizer @ lunch, J. Crew Bubble Necklace (ebay)
Bottom Row: We found three 4-leaf clovers (serious good luck!), Crabtree Falls, NC, Norman (hello!)

Last week I worked a three day work week!  I wish every week was a three day work week!  Monday we had off as it was Memorial Day and then we had scheduled vacation time that following Friday. On Thursday after work we headed to the North Carolina Mountains (technically Ferguson, but we'll just say the Boone area).

It was really nice to get away....  and to...

wander around the Cabin in utter amazement
(and thinking I could live here...)
soak in a hot tub listening to the creek trickle
sit in the rocking chairs and stair into the woods and listen to the birds (and creek of course)
wake up early to the smell of bacon cooking and coffee brewing
realizing we were really in the boondocks with all of the gravel roads we had to take
adventure out into Boone and realize the fog was too heavy to venture down the Blue Ridge Parkway
making a wrong turn accidently into the Tanger Outlets
shopping at Banana Republic spending $100 on seven things
meandering downtown Boone to visit the local shops and grab a bite
back to the Cabin just in time for the rain and to soak in the indoor jacuzzi (for two)
sadly missed taking a picture of a pileated woodpecker
early morning drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway
many overlook stops (some were miserably cold and windy felt like 30 degrees?)
two awesome waterfall hikes
another soak in the jacuzzi and an early bedtime

The more we go out of town, the more I realize and am prepared for the kittens moods when we get back.  Norman is a little more loving than normal (he's not a very loving cat by the way).  He let me brush him for like 20 minutes and was able to remove about 14lbs of hair.  Contessa is just in her mood, she doesn't hardly eat when we are gone and you can just tell she is mad at you.  However, by the end of the night we sat down by the television and I put out my blanket closed my eyes to pray...  Contessa had already hopped up in my lap to curl up to sleep.  We'll just say she didn't move for hours.

We captured 253 pictures this weekend.  I have a lot of editing to do and plan to post several different parts to the trip.  There are way too many wonderful pictures to only show a handful.  I hope that you will enjoy them in upcoming post.

Hope you had a great weekend!
