rainy days... an excuse...

The last few days here in Raleigh have been rain, rain and more rain.  This makes it quite difficult to go outside and get anything done, for example exercise.  All form of exercising for me these days consists of running and recently swimming.  As far as running goes, I don't mind running if it starts to rain near the end of my run but there is no way I'm going to go running outside when it's already raining (at worst thundering and lightening, no brainer).  Swimming, well I will possibly do that in the rain as I'd already be wet.  However, when it's already cold water and no sunshine it's difficult for me to want to go!  Maybe this is God's way of telling me that I need to rest my poor run down body for a few days OR saying quit being a sissy!  Fortunately, on the way home from work yesterday it stopped raining (for a few hours) and the sun peaked out.  Off to the pool we went for a swim!  PS - For those of you that swim, I found a neat little app for tracking distance it's called iSwimLaps ($0.99).

Yet again a poster for inspiration...

Maybe if I quit being a sissy and ran in the rain I'd have her body!

If you didn't have a gym membership what would you do to replace your outdoor exercise activity?

  1. On days when it rains I do a Jillian Michaels exercise DVD, and she's no joke! Although her voice has gotten annoying, so I do it without the DVD and just watch another show. It's actually kind of fun, and I feel really strong afterwards (you know, after that initial weak, numb feeling!). You've been working so hard, I'm sure God's saying take it easy!

  5. Sometimes I do Zumba on the Wii or Just Dance. I always picked up a 4 pack of yoga DVDs at Target for only $14! They're pretty good :)

  6. i was in raleigh just last week, & it rained the entire time we were there. it poured rain over here in kinston yesterday, which i'm glad of, because lately, it's just been cloudy with no rain, which i hate.

i've been trying to run outside more, but the gym just calls to me, for some reason. maybe your body needs a break. whenever i feel that way, i just take a day off, then i get back at it the next day. sometimes i'll do pilates dvds too. my workouts tend to be pretty eclectic :)

  7. Ahh I know exactly what you mean! It's been raining here too and ever since I started my internship, I've had no energy to run in the evenings, especially in this weather! And I don't have a gym membership, so IDK what to do! haha

  8. Rain? It's finally warming up in SoCal. We've had such weird weather all over the country I guess!

And that makes me even moe ashamed I haven't worked out in ages :(

  9. Since we barely have rain here in SoCal I don't run into this problem much, but on those rare days I either do yoga, pilates, or take a rest day. There's always tomorrow! xo

  12. Too funny, that photo makes me hurt. It seems silly but you can always watch an aerobics video and do it in the living room haha.
