Mountain Cabin: Part Six...crabtree falls

Our final stop was Crabtree Falls off of the Blue Ridge Parkway (near mile post 339.5).  There is only one main viewing area of the falls and the trail round trip was approximately 3.5-4 miles (moderate level).  This hike was by far my favorite part of the trip...  One word = stunning...

Recap:
Mountain Cabin: Part One...the cabin

Crabtree Falls, North Carolina

It was quite rocky and also slippery as there was a small stream trickling through all of the small rocky walkways.

A peak at the 70 foot waterfall!

The pictures do not do this fall justice.  We hiked half way in closer from the path to the falls and sat on a huge tree that was lying on its side.  Here is where we planted ourselves for the next 30 minutes to eat lunch.  It was awesome...  I really didn't want to leave.

Joe moved this little guy out of harms way so he didn't get stepped on.

One last view of the mountains...

Within 5 minutes of our drive home we ran into this little spike.
