Mountain Cabin: Part Two... a wash...

On our first full day at the cabin we had great intentions of horseback riding, driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway, stopping at a few overlooks and stopping in the town of Boone, NC.  We left at a decent hour and didn't realize that 20 miles was going to be a 45 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway.  The majority of the roads were gravel with many switchbacks.  Not fun for me, my stomach has never liked driving on those kinds of roads.  Once we arrived at the Blue Ridge Parkway we drove for approximately 5 minutes and decided driving through the fog with 25 feet of visibility wasn't a good idea: one for safety and two there would be absolutely no views at any of the overlooks.  So we hopped off of the Blue Ridge and decided to drive through the town of Blowing Rock and then our final stop at Boone.  As Joe was driving towards Boone he accidently made a wrong turn into the Tanger Outlets!  Oops for him!  Good for me!  I know we have Tanger Outlets everywhere, but since we were there of course we had to make a quick pit stop!  Once I was finished with my shopping spree, we headed down to Boone to wander the streets and grab a bite to eat.

I didn't take very many pictures on this day as the weather wasn't great and we didn't do a lot of our intended activities.  However, I did take approximately 200 pictures on the following day so be prepared.

Time to return to the cabin as the rains were coming... the gravel road

We had also discussed horseback riding while we were there, but with the iffy weather we opted out of it.  Still sort of sad about that...

As I had mentioned, this day was sort of a wash.  We returned back to our cabin around 5pm for a little more R&R as our next morning was going to be a bright and early one.  We had to squeeze in two days worth of activities into one!

The rains did come... rain chains...
