happy half birthday to me...

29 1/2
Today marks my half birthday and my Dad's 64th birthday!  Happy Birthday Dad!

Yep, I count half birthdays...  Since the next big one is my 30th, I figure I need start plugging the idea into my husbands brain!  My husband and I are total opposites for our ideas of a birthday celebration.  He would want a big party with all of his friends surrounding him and I want solitude.  I've actually always hated my birthday for several reasons...

nine days post Christmas and two days post New Years
no one is around or they are spent from the holidays to want to do anything so it's postponed for weeks
growing up it was typically the first day back to school
something bad always happens
i typically end up crying at some point...

Don't you remember my 29th birthday party?
This year I didn't cry, so I apparently handled it rather well for me...

Just as Joe brought over my Birthday Cake he leaned it over to allow me to blow out my 29 candles...  I think the picture explains what happened next...

For those not wearing the cake, this was all quite amusing...

For my 30th birthday (Jan 3) I'm hoping that we go somewhere tropical for example, Cozumel, St. Lucia, St. Bart's, Barbados, anywhere but the long dark cold dreary days the winter brings.

I would love nothing but a nice week in a tropical paradise
no worries or anxieties in my mind
listen to the ocean waves crash
warm sun on my pale winter skin
toes playing in the white powdery sand
nose in a good book
and a fruity drink with a fancy umbrella in my hand

  5. I got to spend my 30th here in VA and then we went off to San Diego to a vacation. It was awesome. My husband turns 30 this year and we are going somewhere. Not sure where yet but it will be fun. You have to do it up for 30!

  7. happy birthday to your dad and happy half birthday to you ;)

I hate my birthdays too, since it is december 19th and people usually combine my birthday and christmas present in one..=)

I completely support the idea of a tropical vacation for the birthday - best present ever ;)

  10. Seriously, Amanda, I can't believe you're turning 30 in January! You look so much younger! (I don't know if your hate when people tell you this). I'm right there with you: I've always preferred quited b-day celebrations to huge parties, and an idea of a tropical island is more than appealing to me...let me know how that turns out!
