eno river and a rope swing

Last weekend we had great weather and decided that a trip to the Eno River State Park would be a fun little adventure.  The Eno River is rather shallow stream, but with all of the rain we had the prior day it was rather swift.  As far as hiking goes, North Carolina is rather woodsy as you probably assumed.  Sporadically peaking through the ground are shade flowers and brightly colored mushroom species.

This turtle, assuming it was a snapping turtle due to the tail length?  Was only 2 inches big.

Joe created antlers for his fancy WVU camo hat.

One big rock!

Time for some sunning.

Apparently they had schemed a side trip to play on a rope swing after we were done hiking.  Brown water and Amanda aren't a good mix so I just took pictures.

Wading out to get the rope...

  6. Fabulous photos!!!! There's nothing like getting out into the woods and enjoying nature .. one of my favorite things to do! Thanks for stopping by this week, sweet ... when you mentioned that you hadn't grown up with all of the color, it made me wonder how different that would made me feel about autumn. Hard to believe I could love it more, even though I've grown up with these types of autumns. So interesting to see things through someone else's eyes ;) .. have a fabulous week! xoSandy

  15. Gorgeous hike! I don't blame you about viewing the river from the bank instead of jumping into the questionable brown murky water. Nothing good lives under that surface I'm sure.
