rushing waters...

Over July 4th the husband and I decided to take a little hiking adventure nearby.  Most hiking spots in Raleigh aren't very exciting, but the Eno River State Park at least has a river, a rope swing and a cable bridge.  Other than that it's really just trails through the woods.  Nothing too exciting or strenuous.

We thought it would be a great idea to hike as the temperatures so far have been rather mild for Summer in North Carolina.  We've had so much rain this year that it's kept our temperatures on the 'cooler' side.  We've averaged 83 degrees this year in July with only one 90 degree day.  To put things in perspective last July the average for the month was 95 degrees with 7 days over 100+ degrees.  However, I will say the humidity is still a killer.  Within the first 30 minutes at 9am, we thought that this could be a bad idea.  We were both already profusely sweating.  That could have been due to all of the stuff we decided to bring including 2 backpacks with food, camera equipment and a tripod in hand.

  1. Wow, such amazing pictures! I'm sure it was tough to hike in the heat and humidity-- it's been crazy humid here, too!

  2. Looks like a fun hiking experience! I'm so jealous of your weather! It's been sweltering in NYC lately and we really need a good rainstorm to clear out some of the humidity.

    Have a fab week Amanda!

  4. I completely agree about the weather here in NC! I'm relieved it's not in the 100s like last year, but gosh. The humidity is an absolute killer! I was excited to see that you live in Raleigh, too! (I picked a handful of blogs to drop by from the Monday Funday link up--and yours was one of them!) I grew up in Raleigh but live about 45 minutes outside of town now. I'm glad you had an nice fourth, and I'm glad I found your blog! Excited to read along!

  5. Beautiful shots of the water! The humidity has been horrible this summer, but I am also 290834902384 years pregnant and haven't lived above 63 degrees in two years, so I am a little whiny about it.
