-two weekends ago
I went down to Florida to visit my family.  It was really great to take a full week off from work and do something fun!  The weather was quite perfect for Florida Summer, not as hot as usual.  I enjoyed morning walks with my Dad and afternoon shopping with my Mother.  it was full of rest and relaxation!

-this weekend
Friday late afternoon we went to visit a historic park to check on a cotton field.  We were going to have our own family photos taken this upcoming weekend, however we postponed it due to the lack of cotton.  There were definitely some blooms, but not enough to make an impact on photos.  I'm glad we stopped by to see what it looked like, otherwise I would have been rather disappointed when I showed up.

Friday late night I woke up around 11:30 and heard, once again, an annoying continuous, chirping noise coming from outside.  "Joe, can you hear that chirping?", "yes" Joe said.  "See I'm not crazy!".  Joe, Zzzzzzzzzzzz....  About an hour later we heard a strange 'crashing' noise.  I sat straight up in bed and asked Joe, "Did you hear that!?!?!?"  He threw on additional clothes and grabbed my gun and crept downstairs to make sure no one was in the house.  We didn't see anything.  I'm 98% sure it was a PVC stand that fell, but none the less we were awake for a bit...  Afterwords, we discussed knowingly that we needed to make better emergency plan if it were a real break-in.  We probably need to learn all the emergency codes on the alarm panel in our bedroom as well...  all else fails push them all.

-yesterday
We heard a rather powerful sermon from 1 John 5:4-5, "(4) For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith. (5) Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."  As Christians, we are victorious and have overcome the world, because of our faith in Him.  wow!  What encouraging words, especially in this crazy, sinful world we live in.

-today
I have my first newborn session this morning.  I'm excited and quite terrified at the same time.  I'm thankful that this is a third time mother, so I'm sure she will be calm as a cucumber as I handle her sweet little baby girl.  Remember all of that work we did to get ready for a newborn session?  You can read more about that here.  Please pray that this one goes well!

PS - Today is the last day to enter this giveaway!

  1. I've never actually seen cotton fields in real life, I bet it would be really interesting to see them in bloom, and that would make a cool background for pictures!
